Arcads and AdSmash both make AI video ads, but they own different parts of the work. Arcads is built around talking-actor ads and now includes an agent that researches competitors' ads; AdSmash keeps brand references, models from several providers, and read-only Meta performance data in one workflow. AdSmash publishes this page, so every Arcads claim below links to Arcads' own site, terms or help centre, checked on October 1, 2026.
- In our view, Arcads suits teams whose bottleneck is producing many talking-actor ads: it advertises 1,000+ AI actors and translation into 30+ languages.
- In our view, AdSmash suits teams whose bottleneck is keeping ads on-brand across models and deciding what to make next from their Meta results.
- On cost, Arcads publishes no plan prices, but it bills talking-actor video at 800 credits per minute, per actor, rounded up, so a 15-second ad costs the same as a 60-second one. AdSmash lists Free, Pro ($20/month) and Team ($89/month).

What Arcads does in 2026
A talking-actor ad is a video in which an AI-generated person delivers a script to camera. That's still Arcads' core: its homepage calls it "the best AI UGC library". It lists 1,000+ AI actors plus custom avatars, translation into more than 30 languages, and models including Seedance 2.5, Sora 2 Pro, Kling and Nano Banana.
The change is the agent. Arcads says Mark "learns your brand, reverse-engineers your competitors' best-performing ads" to find angles to test. It also says Mark remembers your products, audience, offers and brand voice across sessions, then writes the script, picks the actor and assembles a fully edited UGC ad with subtitles. So describing Arcads as an actor library with no strategy layer, as our earlier version of this page did, is out of date. Arcads also runs an AI Agency brief form that asks for your landing page, 5 top-performing current ads and 3 competitors.
What we couldn't find is performance analysis inside the Arcads app. Arcads' Terms (Arcads is operated by FRESHR) describe, in section 8.6, an optional, read-only TikTok connection that displays the videos published on a connected account; they don't mention performance metrics.
Arcads' Claude MCP (Model Context Protocol) page says that through Claude, store research, campaign publishing and performance analysis "depend on the other tools and connectors" you connect, such as Shopify and Meta. That doesn't prove the app lacks analytics, so if it matters to you, ask in a demo.
What AdSmash does, and what it doesn't
AdSmash is an AI ad creative platform built around four things. Each one targets a step that usually sits outside the generator:
- Brand references. Products, likenesses, colors and typography are stored once and reused across generations.
- Models from several providers on one canvas. Seedance 2.5, Gemini Omni, GPT Image 2.5, Grok Imagine 1.5, Happy Horse 1.1 and MiniMax H3.
- Meta performance data. The integration is read only: AdSmash "cannot create, edit, publish, pause, or delete anything in Meta," per its homepage. Its performance-data integration covers Meta only.
- Managed service. You send a brief instead of building the ads yourself, and ads go through a human review step before they ship. Human review is part of the managed service, not every plan. Self-serve users check their own output.
Arcads pricing vs AdSmash pricing
Arcads pricing isn't public. Its /pricing URL returned a 404 on October 1, 2026, and the homepage has no pricing link. The Terms, in force since September 22, 2026, say standard offers are described on the platform itself, alongside customized offers agreed after a consultation. Plan prices published elsewhere come from third parties, so we don't repeat them.
| Plan | Arcads, as of October 1, 2026 | AdSmash, as of October 14, 2026 (pricing page) |
|---|---|---|
| Entry plan | Not published | Free, $0: trial credits for the Studio agent, 1 seat, 1 brand workspace |
| Paid plans | Not published; standard and customized offers | Pro, $20/month: $25.00 worth of credits, 1 seat, 1 brand workspace. Team, $89/month: $100.00 worth of credits, 5 seats, 5 brand workspaces |
| Unit of billing | Credits; talking-actor video at 800 credits per minute, per actor | Plan credits, valid for two months |
| Custom | Customized offers after a consultation | Enterprise & Services, quoted |
AdSmash's prices load live on its pricing page and can change, so treat the figures above as dated. Neither side's public pages let you turn a plan into a dollar cost per ad: Arcads doesn't publish what a credit costs, and AdSmash doesn't publish its per-generation rates on its pricing page. Compare on a trial with your own ad lengths.
What an Arcads ad costs in credits
Arcads' help centre article (updated April 2026) prices talking-actor video at 800 credits per minute, per actor, and says: "Length is always rounded up." Its own example shows that means a whole minute: 1 minute, 45 seconds with two actors is billed as 2 minutes × 2 actors, or 3,200 credits.
Talking-actor credits = 800 × minutes (rounded up to a whole minute) × number of actors.
| Ad length | 1 actor | 2 actors |
|---|---|---|
| 15 seconds | 800 credits | 1,600 credits |
| 30 seconds | 800 credits | 1,600 credits |
| 60 seconds | 800 credits | 1,600 credits |
| 90 seconds | 1,600 credits | 3,200 credits |
| 120 seconds | 1,600 credits | 3,200 credits |
By our calculation, length isn't the cost lever for short ads: a 15-second ad uses the same 800 credits as a 60-second one. Actor count is the lever, because a second actor doubles the cost at every length.
Illustrative example: a balance of 8,000 credits, a round number rather than an Arcads plan figure, covers ten single-actor generations of 60 seconds or less.
Video-model generations are priced separately: the same article lists Kling 3.0 at 176 to 560 credits per generation and Sora 2 at 240 to 1,200. It doesn't say whether regenerating a talking-actor clip uses credits, so ask before you budget for retakes. To size a plan, start from the number of distinct ideas you'll test; our post on how many ads it takes to find a winner works through that count.
Arcads terms that change the effective price
Under Arcads' Terms, where unused credits go depends on how your plan changes. Upgrading to a higher offer carries them over to the new period (promotional credits excepted). Downgrading loses whatever is left at the end of the period, and termination forfeits them too. Renewing on the same plan isn't covered by either clause, so confirm with Arcads before you assume credits roll over.
Three more terms affect what you pay:
- Running out on a standard offer means waiting for renewal or moving to a customized offer, where extra credits are invoiced.
- Cancelling needs notice no later than 72 hours before the period ends, and a started period is charged in full.
- Refunds under Arcads' refund policy are full only if you used zero generation credits in the period and ask within 30 days of the charge.
Our view: size an Arcads plan to the tests you plan to run, plus a margin. Because upgrading keeps remaining credits and downgrading forfeits them, it's safer to start smaller and move up. Ask Arcads whether a mid-period upgrade is available on standard offers before you rely on it.
The FTC rule doesn't ban AI actors; it bans fake testimonials
The FTC's Rule on the Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials took effect on October 21, 2024. Per the FTC's announcement, it covers testimonials that misrepresent they're by someone who does not exist, such as AI-generated fake reviews. It also covers testimonials by someone who "did not have actual experience with the business or its products."
Its Q&A says the rule "has no blanket prohibition on the use of AI-generated avatars in marketing"; an avatar testimonial is prohibited "only if the underlying testimonials were fake or false." Separately, the FTC says avatar use could be deceptive under the FTC Act (Endorsement Guides, 16 CFR 255.1(g) and 255.2(c)).
On our reading, the risky pattern is an AI actor scripted as a customer describing an experience nobody had. A script drawn from real, documented customer reviews, or an actor presented as a spokesperson rather than a customer, sends a different message. Likeness rights and platform AI-disclosure labels are covered in our guide to AI-generated advertising.
This is a US rule, and other markets have their own. Check talking-actor scripts written in a customer's voice with counsel before they run.
Which one fits your team
Our view, tied to what each tool documents. Pick by bottleneck.
Arcads is the better fit when your bottleneck is the volume of talking-actor variants, especially across languages, which is where its actor and language range applies. Because in-app performance analysis isn't documented, it suits teams that already analyze results in Ads Manager or their own reporting.
AdSmash is the better fit when your bottleneck is keeping products and brand assets consistent across several models, and you want Meta results in the same workflow where you decide what to make next. That's the job its stored brand references and read-only Meta connection do.
Using both is reasonable, too, when talking-actor ads are one format among several. Arcads output can then be judged on the same Meta metrics as everything else you run. The deciding question is simple: where does your time go?
When neither Arcads nor AdSmash is the right tool
Some teams searching for an Arcads alternative need a different kind of tool; our roundup of AI video ad tools covers a wider field. In our view:
- If the ad depends on a real customer's experience, work with real customers or creators who have used the product.
- If you make only a handful of ads a month, a general video editor and your own footage are usually enough. Keep it simple.
- If you need a presenter for training or corporate video rather than paid social, avatar tools built for that use fit better.
Neither tool fits every team. Before you pick a plan on either side, count the distinct ideas you'll test next month and run them through the credit formula above. Check the numbers yourself. If AdSmash's workflow fits better, you can create an account and try it on your own brand.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Arcads cost?
Arcads does not publish plan prices: its /pricing URL returned a 404 on October 1, 2026. What it does publish is its credit rate: talking-actor video costs 800 credits per minute, per actor, with length rounded up to a whole minute. See the pricing section above for what that means per ad.
Do unused Arcads credits roll over?
Under Arcads' Terms, unused credits carry over when you upgrade to a higher offer, and are lost when you downgrade or terminate. The Terms don't say what happens at an ordinary renewal on the same plan, so confirm with Arcads before you assume credits roll over.
Can I get a refund from Arcads?
Arcads' refund policy gives a full refund for a billing period only if you used zero generation credits in it and request the refund within 30 days of the charge.
Does Arcads analyze ad performance?
None of the Arcads pages we checked describe in-app performance analysis. Its Claude MCP page says performance analysis depends on the other tools and connectors you give Claude, such as Meta. AdSmash reads Meta performance data directly, read only.
Is it legal to use AI actors in ads?
This is not legal advice. In the US, the FTC says its testimonials rule has no blanket prohibition on AI-generated avatars; an avatar testimonial breaks the rule only if the underlying testimonials are fake or false. Check scripts written in a customer's voice with counsel.
How much does AdSmash cost?
